Guided Nature Walk Planned as part of Run Stanley Events

Run Stanley welcomes nature lovers to a guided woods walk in the Stanley Park Wildlife Sanctuary trails directly following the race on November 17. Led by Westfield State University biology Professor David Lovejoy and Nancy Condon, Vice President of the Naturalists’ Club, this leisurely walk along the river and on the boardwalk will familiarize participants with the many trees and shrubs inhabiting this small part of Stanley Park. Interested participants can sign up at the registration table for Run Stanley (Children’s Pavilion) any time between 9:00-11:50 a.m. on Nov. 17. Leaders Lovejoy and Condon will meet participants by the Frank Stanley Beveridge Sanctuary sign near the rest room building. Start time will be approximately noon, with total walking time up to 1.5 hours, covering less than a mile at a relaxed pace. This informative walk is free and open to all, but the Run Stanley Race Committee encourages donations to benefit bridge repair. Donations will be accepted at the Run Stanley registration table between 9:00-noon or can be sent to the Office of Development, Stanley Park, 400 Western Ave. Westfield, MA 01085.

Meet the artist….

Curious about the artist who created Stanley and his furry friends for our race shirt design?

Meet the Artist:

“My name is Alexandra Eveland, and I’m a senior in high school. I’ve been drawing for a long time as well as playing sports such as cross country and softball. It was an honor to be the designer for Run Stanley 2013 and 2014 because this is one of the first big things I am doing with art. I hope to do more as I get older since art runs in my family. Thank you for having me as your artist, and I look forward to seeing what the tee shirt design looks like!”

Race Director Vanessa Diana is proud of her artistic niece Alex!
